A Little About Me...

John is first, and foremost, a minister. He is also a husband, blogger, and musician. John spends lots of time with friends and family, spending time with his lovely wife, and 3 children: Mokey (cat), Molly (basset hound), and Harley (beagle). His biggest "guilty pleasure" is pro wrestling. Of his other loves: cigars, motorcycles, reading, computers, movies, music, and sleep.

Another Tid-Bit...

John is a Connections Pastor and Worship Leader, and has been in ministry since 2000. He has spent his entire life preparing for God to use him in any way He wants. John's life verse is James 1:4, Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.

Sunday Night Decrompress (The Monday Edition)

3

Sorry for the late post, Sarah and I got in around 2:00am and CRASHED hard!  We woke up around Noon.  But it was all worth it to experience Wrestelmania 24 and spending an AMAZING evening together…and we never talked about church, church problems, or even our own problems.  It was a night completely in the moment, free of anything except each other and enjoying our lives.  I HIGHLY recommend it!

  • Sunday services were great.  The Band and Vocal Team were off the hook!
  • Greg seems to really be finding his groove with the 30 Days to Live series.
  • Spend some  quality time with Shelton and Dave and Tim.
  • We were all still recovering from the awesome Leader’s Retreat the previous day.
  • Lunch of Wendy’s and a quick cat nap, then off to Orlando.
  • The amount of people in the Citrus Bowl was mind blowing.
  • Watching Sarah enjoy all the pyro, lights, video, sound, and other production elements was more enjoyable to me than anything I have done in the last several months.
  • “All I want is to be one of those guys taking the piano off stage!” - Sarah
  • “Wow, THAT’S why they can’t do that [full size fireworks] indoors.”
  • To hear my wife talk ‘rastlin’ with other guys in the crowd brought a smile to my face and a tear to my eyes.

I get to speak next week during services.  I am speaking on Getting Your Affairs in Order. I will be talking about my experience with my neck surgery and connecting how we live our lives with how Jesus Christ lived His life.  I will also be including the Bookend analogy that Chris used to use when he baptized people.

I am excited that we are 30 days away from heading back to Georgia.  Of course, Sarah and I are sad to leave our house, our friends and our family, but we are looking forward to the next page in our ministry.   Please pray for us.

Wrestlemaina 24 - Orlando, FL

Living and growing up in the South, you learn a healthy respect for all things Southern: friend chicken, catfish, sweet tea, Nascar, SEC football, and of course, pro wrestling. I have watch wrestling on and off for about 30+ years. From TBS World Championship Wrestling with Gordon Solie announcing to WCW, and WWF and then the WWE. I even enjoy the newer TNA and Ring of Honor promotions. I know that it’s a little redneck, but I love it. I get caught up in the drama. It truly is “soap opera for men.” And I really do enjoy it.

SO I get a call from my friend, Tony Moran, and he offers me tickets to Wrestlemania 24 in Orlando. So of course I said “Yes!!!” So I am about to embark to Orlando in a few minutes. Why did I say ‘yes’? The spectacle, the production value, the loud explosions, the music, the fans, the craziness that IS the WWE Experience. I really enjoy it. And it reminds me that this culture, this society REALLY is looking for heroes, people that they can root for and believe in. And that is why I LOVE the modern day church plants. (more…)

Leadership Meeting Day

you probably don't need to see this

by Klara Kim

I LOVE to meet with other leaders. I LOVE to meet with MY leaders. I LOVE to take time out of our busy lives and get away and talk about leading, leading well, and what the future holds. And TODAY I get to do what I LOVE the most….get away with my leadership team (the Worship Ministry Team Leadership) and talk about the future and talk about being leaders.Today has been in the works for weeks. We have had to reschedule it twice, and I am still not sure who all is coming. We will have some folks come and leave early, and them come back. We’ll have some who stay all day, and we will have some who will be meeting at the end. And that is OK. At least people are coming. At least people are interested in talking about the future and learning how to be better leaders. At least people are interested in fixing things that are broken.

And I LOVE them for it. I cannot wait to tell you what we discover!
