A Little About Me...

John is first, and foremost, a minister. He is also a husband, blogger, and musician. John spends lots of time with friends and family, spending time with his lovely wife, and 3 children: Mokey (cat), Molly (basset hound), and Harley (beagle). His biggest "guilty pleasure" is pro wrestling. Of his other loves: cigars, motorcycles, reading, computers, movies, music, and sleep.

Another Tid-Bit...

John is a Connections Pastor and Worship Leader, and has been in ministry since 2000. He has spent his entire life preparing for God to use him in any way He wants. John's life verse is James 1:4, Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.

A fitting last day

Antenna

I can still remember the firsts…  First kiss from my wife, first car, first time at Disney, first time I ever stepped into CrossRoads.  This last weekend was my last at CrossRoads.  I have had the pleasure of serving and working with some of the most amazing people in the world.  We loved, we laughed, we cried, we worked, we struggled, and we overcame.  It was amazing.

I love that God works in amazing ways, I have no idea what’s in store for Sarah and I, but we KNOW that He is working in our lives.  And I get to meet new people, have new adventures, first services, first meetings, first emails, and first vision casts.  I cannot wait.

My friends at CrossRoads have stolen my heart and I can never repay them for their kindness, their love, their acceptance, and their friendship.  We truly accomplished our goal: to be a family.  And as I leave my CrossRoads family, I look forward to my new StonePoint family.  It will be different, but I am excited about what is in store for us.  And, when it’s all said and done, and I stand with my Savior in heaven, I will be joined by not only my StonePoint family, but also by CrossRoads, LifePoint, Braelinn, Rehoboth, and Redeemer families.

It has been a fitting last day in Florida for Sarah and myself, we have had friends and family call, come by the house, email, and Twitter.  It’s been amazing to actually SEE the impact that we have had, and how God has worked through us both.  I will miss you all, but it’s not goodbye, it’s so long…for now.

Life Lessons from Ric Flair, Pt. 5

“I’m a limousine ridin’, jet flyin’, kiss stealin’, wheelin’ dealin’ son of a gun.” - Ric Flair

If you ever watched pro wrestling in the late 70’s, or you saw Ric Flair cut a promo on TV, you heard this phrase. The mystique of the 4 Horsemen was that they were the richest, wildest, most sought after wrestlers in the business, and back then, they were. Ric was bragging, but it was also true. The Horsemen were known for their limousine riding, jet flying, philandering, under handed practices, and Flair was ringleader and mouth piece.

Ric wanted you to be envious and jealous. That was the character her played, and he played it extremely well. In fact, the 4 Horsemen were often the same way off camera as they were on camera.

But the limos, jets, and entourage of lovely ladies came about by their work ethic. The Horsemen were the hardest working (and playing) stable of wrestlers in the business. They protected each other, they were always around, and they always had a plan.

And when it comes to Biblical “wheelin’ and dealin’,” you have to be talking about the Apostle Paul. (more…)

Sunday Night Decompress

It’s been an amazing week, I cannot remember ever being more busy, physically or emotionally drained, and excited all at the same time, in my life. Today was my last day at CrossRoads and NEXT week, I start at StonePoint. I cannot wait.

  • Up early, last night was fun, but late. (Going away party at the Zerbe’s)
  • Hot air balloons crash landing all over the church’s property.
  • Worship Team is STACKED this morning. It was great having Janell with us again.
  • I taught on Following God’s Call. I believe that there will be a series of Blog Posts based on this teaching.
  • First service was off the chain, it was almost as if I was in a pentecostal worship service. AMEN!!
  • There was an announcement made about my leaving, seemed a little forced…”Awkward….”
  • We got through both services, many tears, a TON of congrats and encouragements.
  • Sarah and I realize that we really did make a tremendous impact here. I thank God for that realization.
  • “I have been blessed to lead the most amazing people on the planet.”
  • “We spend a lot of time arguing about stupid stuff.”
  • “I am so jacked!”
  • “Bum Dog Diggity” - Props to my south side peeps!
  • Finally it’s finished, Taco Bell, a little nap, and then dinner with the plans at Wasabi
  • We had an amazing Japanese steakhouse dinner with Tyrone (pics to come)
  • After dinner, cocktails and cigars on the back patio with Doug and V
  • i will miss those times at the Zerbe’s house.
  • We get to go to Disney’s Hollywood Studios tomorrow!

Looking forward to this week:
