Wacky Week Wrap-Up
* This is in NO WAY a Sunday Night Decompress (Saturday Edition) and similarity to any such a fore mentioned typical post by John Donahue, is PURELY coincidental. In other words, I have been too busy to post and I wanted to let everyone know what I have been up to.
It has been a wild weekend. I have not been able to post as much as I had wanted this week, so this is the result. Pleas enjoy another bulletted list…
- Monday, Tuesday, and Wedesday were all 12+ hour days. Thursday, however was JUST a lousy 10 hour day.
- So, I’ve been busy. It’s been GOOD busy, but the hours have just seemed to disappear. I LOVE my new job, and it’s never the same day twice.
MONDAY
- All Day Planning meeting with Scott. We discussed many key issues and how to move forward. There will be a lot of team meetings, emails, and discussions based on what Scott and I worked on this past Monday.
- We bought a dry erase board, so you know there was a TON of ideas flying around that office.
- We started to go through Nelson Searcy “Breaking Growth Barriers,” and we only listened to the first 15 minutes, and then the rest of the day was launched.
TUESDAY
- Getting caught up on the Assimilation Stuff (Emails, Cards and Letters) to 1st time guests and other leaders.
- I think that I will be doing videos for a while. I got the Baptism Video from last Sunday to edit and get ready for the upcoming weekend.
- I started working out at lunch with SID and some friends who own a gym. I am out of shape.
- Dinner at a potential new leader’s home-Scott and I had a great time, and we were out a little later than we thought.
- Filming and editing a new Home Team Leaders Video Email.
WEDNESDAY
- Crunch day. Video editing (with NEW, UNTRIED, UNFAMILIAR editing software).
- Another lunch work out. Feeling better about it.
- Finished the Home Team Leaders Video.
- Nex Video Project begins…a 1 minute complilation of Baptism Videos…how long can this take?
THURSDAY
- From 9am-12noon, Nelson Searcy “Financial Strategy Webinar.” It was great, but there were some real technical issues.
- While THAT was happening, I was writing a new post at IWant2Change.com. You can read it HERE.
- Went to work out, but I was feeling the past 2 days. I was sore, but I went and got the hour in.
- I finished the video….5 hours later. It was insane. See if you approve HERE.
- Sarah and I had dinner with 2 Home Team leaders. It was cool. We went to one of our favorite Mexican places. Yeah, steak tacos!
FRIDAY
- The offices are closed on Friday, so I got to sleep in. Since I have been working so much, I slept in until about 11:30. Had breakfast and then…
- Went to the gym to work out with Sarah. If I follow their scales, I lost 7 pounds. I also didn’t have my shoes on THAT time, so factor whatever a pair of New Balance 706′s weigh and that’s what I lost.
- AFTER the gym, I came home and did NOTHING. I watched TV, played on the internet, and did very little. I loved every second of it.
- Sarah and I drove to Atlanta to have dinner with some family that had come in for the weekend. It was cool, we went to a place called the Midtown Pub and we shared some Trailer Park Salsa. Imagine a really chunky salsa with a cut up hot dog in it, with a side of Fritos. They ACTUALLY tasted better than they sound.

SATURDAY
- It was the Ashley Park Summer Celebration today and we took about 15 people from StonePoint Church to help them out.
- I got there at 9:45 and was put to work in the SAND AREA. Imagine a beach scene will sand, mini sand buckets and shovels.
- Imagine an Easter Egg hunt with small and large clear plastic balls. Every hour on the hour, we would bury a ton of prizes and have a treasure hunt. It was cool, I mean, great, becasue it was NOT cool. I think that I lost 20 pounds just from water loss. It was in the 90′s all day.
- One thing I almost forgot – ACROSS the walkway from the “beach” there was a display of animals: birds and reptiles. So, periodically, the “Snake Man” would take up 2 or 3 snakes and DANCE in the street…We were next to the DJ. It was CRAZY. And then….He dropped a “few” snakes in the Freakin’ SAND!! Some of the kids didn’t seem to mind, but some of parents didn’t appreciate it very much. Neither did I. He was a nice guy, but then one of the snakes got away from him….He got it back, and I about passed out.
- I left around 2:00 and completely missed my (Sarah’s) grandmother’s 90th birthday bash in Marietta.
- Sarah got home around 5:00 and the evening is still young…so WHO KNOWS.
That pretty much sums up my week. It was fun and busy, and I am so blessed to be here in Newnan.
** UPDATE **
Sarah and I had a little dinner at Hooters. Yes, Hooters. And then Wal-Mart and some UFC 84 Ill Will – replay on SPIKE TV.
How do you KNOW you fear God?
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. Proverbs 9:10
Learning to fear God takes time and practice. The secret is finding daily time spent in God’s Word (the Bible) and in prayer. The world (and it’s people) do not stop trying to make us fear them and not God, so we can never truly be free of their attacks.
If a bush in our back yards started burning and talking to us, we’d be more prone to remembering how BIG our God is. But as it is, we fall short on the Faith and Knowing of our God. So how do we start a routine of growing in the knowledge (and fear) of God?
