4th of July Weekend Decompress
Crazy, Crazy weekend! We had some friends from Newnan, GA up with their kids and they spent the night on Saturday. It was fun an busy. Sid got the weekend off, so, for the first time in MONTHS, we got to go to church together…it was THE BOMB!!
FRIDAY
- Friday turned into “To Do” day.
- I started the day re-shooting some video for Common Ground’s 2009 in 2009 Backpack Give-Away, and then I finished getting all their multi-media needs together.
- I had a lunch date with Sarah-Irene, and then it was off to deposit her paycheck.
- When I got home, I started to clean house because we had some old friends coming in with their kids…all totaled (not counting the animals) we had 9 people in the house sleeping, our biggest number yet!
- Yet, everyone had their own pillow!
- We wound up having dinner and making a Wal-Mart run and got home pretty late.
- Sid and I slept like babies!
SATURDAY – 4th of July
- Sarah and I got up early and finished cleaning the house…and I mowed grass.
- Oh, BTW, we have a 2 foot snake living somewhere on our property…NOT GOOD!
- I got the yard done, and got myself cleaned up in just enough time to welcome the family in and head out to Ft. DeSoto Beach.
- Sid and I got to hit the same beach the Monday before…so we got DOUBLE SPOILED this week.
- Have I mentioned lately that I LOVE living in FLA?
- We spent about 3 hours in the sun and surf and then we headed home for Hotdogs, Brats, Beer, and NASCAR!
- It was a WILD ending to the race, but I was glad to see Tony get a victory at Daytona…although I am sure that K-Y Busch doesn’t share my same feelings.
- We spent some time chatting with the fam, and then everyone hit the sack.
SUNDAY
- The house awoke to children and puppies! Molly and Harley LOVED having all the children to play with.
- A quick breakfast and then Sid and I were out the door to visit Church of the Suncoast.
- I really like Brian Moon, the Lead Pastor, and I was excited to just be at church with my lovely wife.
- Unfortunately, we arrived about 1/2 an hour too early, so we made a quick Target run, and I purchased my copy of Glenn Beck’s Common Sense, and a copy of Disney’s 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea. I’ve been excited to see the movie since finishing the book.
- We got the church and had a great time. Afterwords, we were invited to lunch with 3 of the other families and we landed at Chili’s.
- After lunch, Sid and I had a quick power nap, because we made plans with Danny and Kristi Schaffner from Common Ground.
- Sid and I LOVE Danny and Kristi, so we had a double date – we saw Taking of Pelham 123 and had dinner at the Green Iguana. Both were excellent.
- Sid and I came home and watched 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea – WOW! 2 movies in 1 day with my wife!!
- It was a BUSY-GREAT-FUN weekend. Sid and I deserved it!
