Previously, we have discussed Setting Your Expectations High and Finding Your Niche. This time, we will discuss, Expecting the Unexpected.
There is a sense, when you visit any of the Disney theme parks, that something amazing is going to happen. It may be the wonder and excitement of a young child’s first visit to this magical land, or it may be the “adventure” of a theme ride for the first time. Or it may even be the expectation of winning one of the 1 million dreams in the Year of a Million Dreams that is happening at Walt Disney World. When you walk onto a Disney property, you EXPECT the UNEXPECTED.
What if CHURCH was like that?
Ask yourself:
- What would happen if people EXPECTED something REAL and RELEVANT each week?
- If you changed anything in the ORDER of the service, will they be upset or will anyone notice?
- If you communicated your MESSAGE without saying a word, using video, drama, or other art forms, what would happen?
- If you taught through a SERIES, would people be inspired to return?
- What if you teased that something MIGHT HAPPEN next week, and then make something HAPPEN next week?
- What if the church ACTED like the church, instead of PLAYING like a church?
- What if you planned each service so that your people would come in EXPECTING something to happen?
