I recently visited Universal Studios Orlando and while I had a good time and enjoyed my experience, there was something missing. There was something, intangible that I just couldn’t put my finger on it. Until the drive home, and I passed a very familiar landmark… and I immediately realized what Universal was lacking.
Even with some VERY cool attractions, some amazing stage design, and some very unique experiences, Universal just lacked heart. The had high goals, they set the bar very high for great experiences and helping their guests have a great time, but it just felt flat.
There’s just that intangible sense that there was something missing.
Now, contrast that to a visit to one of the Disney theme parks or resorts. Call it brand recognition, flashy marketing, or just something we all grew up with, a visit to a Disney park is something, well, magical. At it’s very core, everything about Disney is filled with heart.
People from all over the world make the trek to Orlando, FL to immerse themselves in the “magic” of Walt Disney World. Sure there other theme parks around the world and scattered all over Orlando, but there’s just something that compels people to want to go to Disney World.
Does your church have heart?
I know that your church has great preaching, music, volunteers, and the Holy Spirit, but does it have ‘heart‘? Does it possess that intangible quality that compels people to come back? Is there an overall sense of something that compels people to attend?
I’ve been to a lot of Bible based, well produced, very organized, traditional, and cutting edge churches that just lacked something. They left me flat. Conversely, I’ve been to other churches that were less organized and sloppily produced, but there was just something special about them.
What do you think?
