28Then they asked him, “What must we do to do the works God requires?”
29Jesus answered, “The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent.”
Sometimes I struggle with doing what I do. Sometimes I struggle with “my call”. Sometimes I struggle when I see all the faces of those who do not yet know Jesus. I feel as though I don’t do ANYTHING to build the Kingdom. And I feel completely inadequate as a minister, a husband, or as a friend.
But my call is to follow God with all my heart and soul and to believe in Jesus and allow Christ to work THROUGH me. It’s not about me or about anything that I do or do not do. It’s about my belief and obedience.
Jesus later goes on to say:
39And this is the will of him who sent me, that I shall lose none of all that he has given me, but raise them up at the last day. 40For my Father’s will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day.”
To KNOW the Will of God, to KNOW that Jesus’s call was to lose none of those whom God had given to Him. But Jesus had to raise God up until the last day. As so shall I, with all that I have, all that I am, and all that He gives me.
