Labor Day Decompress
I know that this is a day late – hey I have a valid excuse… it’s a holiday AND I have company in from Florida. ALSO, we’re breaking in the NEW dog. It’s been a little KOOKY in the Donahue house, but hey, I LOVE my life.
- Sunday morning came early, but then again, I went to sleep about 4 hours ago…
- SID, Dave Ness, and I headed to pick up the trailer and then…to the theater.
- Once there, we discovered that Chuck, one of our volunteer leaders, had already been there and started setting all the kids areas up.
- And then the adult worship theater (Theater 1) was also VERY along in the set up time line.
- So, with all the changes we had for the Resource Area and Cafe, Dave and I got right to work.
- We set everything up in the main lobby of the theater so we had a HUGE area to “fellowship” and just hang out…more on that later….
- THEN….I asked that fateful question…”Where’s the SOUND GUY?”
- So I asked Sarah, who didn’t have any responsibilities that morning, to run sound. And run it, she did. Like AWESOMELY!!
- Once that minor emergency was abated, we had another issue…the Media Shout wouldn’t play ANY of the video files….and we had 3 that HAD to play….
- I got my laptop into the mix and it played right away…It was probably an update issue on the old computer.
- Other emergency – DONE…and I only had…HOLY CRAP!!! 30 minutes to grab a shower and get back for our Inside Look with all the volunteers.
- I got back a little late, and got everything up and running. So, we had our time and sent everyone to their places and got ready for the people to show up.
- Everything got kicked off by the band with a KICK ASS version of “Life is Beautiful” by Sixx:AM.
- And then they continued to rock as hard as I have ever heard….Honestly, they were amazing. I hurt my neck I rocked out so hard.
- We got to my time and I got up there and did what I believed God told me to say. You can hear my message HERE.
- After my message, which was about 20 minutes long, we directed everyone back into the lobby for a very special opportunity to “Reflect Community” at StonePoint.
- With all the kids safe in their own areas and 20 minutes to spend, we had everyone from the band to tech team out in the lobby meeting and greeting each other and spending some time getting to know each other a little better.
- And after that, we turned the church BACK into a movie theater in about 20 minutes. It was awesome!
- The whole crew headed back to Casa Donahue for some Chinese and then NAPS…zzzzz.
- That evening, we hung out, and the Ness’ cooked an AMAZING ‘sketty dinner. (Spaghetti)
- After a while, we watched the ENTIRE message that THIS came from. It was amazing. I love Louie Gigglio.
- Then it was off to bed, and I slept like a ROCK.
- SID and I took the dogs to the pet park for the early afternoon, and then SID, Dave, Michelle, and I went over to a friend’s house for a cookout and pool party… I miss the Zerbes, but this was a VERY close 2nd.
This will be a quick and busy week, but I am very relaxed and ready to attack the week and get ready for the Joe Sangl event on September 27. More on THAT later….
