Weekend Decompress

This was a ‘Rock-n-Roller Coaster of a weekend.  It was crazy busy and full of up and downs, twisty turns, and super loops.  I spent an entire day working online, I got to preach AND play drums in the same service.  And I even got to spend some quality time with my wife….oh yeah, and I made a BOMBSHELL announcement!  It was a CRAZY weekend!

FRIDAY

  • Sid’s alternator had finally given up the ghost, so while her car was getting fixed, I got to take her to work.  I LOVE being her knight in shining armour!
  • I took her to work, and then went to work on some of my side projects…but that is another post…
  • I went back and picked Sid up for lunch, cashed her check, retrieved her fixed car and then I went to run some errands.
  • I got back about almost at the same time Sid got off work.  We got to spend about an hour taking a nap…
  • Which is good because we had plans with Dave and Michelle Ness, they’d been out of town and we were also celebrating them being back, Sid getting a little raise, and my getting a new job.
  • We had Dave’s version of the Loosey Nooky (a type of cheeseburger) – they were awesome.
  • We got home and summarily crashed!

SATURDAY

  • Earlier in the week, the decision was made to let the Media Computer at Common Ground go back to the shop and get fixed.  What I didn’t think of at the time was that I had to COMPLETELY re-build all of the Media Shout, PowerPoint, Graphics, Video Clips, and Countdowns for this weekend.
  • So, I spent about 4 1/2 fixing the Media Shout and then I moved on to put the finishing touches on my teaching for the week.
  • I did manage to do a load of laundry and cleaned the kitchen, but mainly I spent the whole day in front of a computer.
  • Sid came home and we went to bed… We were bushed.

SUNDAY

  • I got up pretty early, I had a lot to do this morning, and I needed to get a jump on it.
  • I got to church around 8:00, a little later than I had planned.
  • When I walked in, there was NOTHING plugged in or re-set on the stage, Brad, our worship guy, was set to re-setting the stage.  I went to work getting my laptop integrated into the system.  Remember, the church’s computer was at the shop, so we had to run mine for the main system.
  • Then we discovered that none of the musicians had copies of their music…and the church copier was broken….so I am on the phone with the pastor trying to get copies for the musicians.  Luckily, the guest leader brought enough copies for everyone.
  • And then the laptop was causing a sound problem in sound system.  Luckily Sid had the fix in her car, and dropped it off on her way to work.
  • We got everything up and running well, so went off to rehearse with the band (I was playing drums AS WELL as preaching).
  • The rehearsal was rough, but ended well, so no worries there.  I went back to the booth because the tech people had panic on their faces…  Someone had made a PowerPoint presentation for the VBS song the kids were singing at the end of the service…and it crashed my computer 3 times.  It was total stress.  And it didn’t play during the service.  Nothing could be done.
  • The service started, and everything went well.  I spoke and it seemed to be received well, the pastor liked it.  As soon as they upload it, you can hear it HERE.
  • I came home and spent the next several hours vegging out.
  • Sid came home and we spent the evening running errands and grabbed some dinner.  We came home, had some ice cream, and went to sleep.
  • I went to sleep unemployed, and I will wake up with a great new job and an amazing opportunity!
