Weekend Decompress
FRIDAY
- The weekend started a little early (Thursday), when Sid and I went to see Star Trek. It was amazing! You can see my review HERE.
- Friday was a busy day of cleaning and working on MANY projects.
- Sid and I kidnapped our friend (Michelle) and took her to Sonny’s for lunch.
- After work, Sid and I ran a quick errand and then visited Tampa’s newest Mecca, I mean, IKEA.
- It was terrific, it had that “new Ikea smell”. They had hired balloon guys, face painters, unicyclists, and even a Pippi Longstocking. You can see me and Pippi HERE.
- After Ikea, Sid and I stopped for a quick bite to eat. The full moon was out, and it was a GORGEOUS night in Tampa. We took the scenic route home.
SATURDAY
- Saturday morning came early (well, not AS early, I slept in a hour later than I should have).
- After breakfast and Bible study, I finished the Video and Announcement slides for Common Ground on Sunday. I think that they look pretty great, we “re-branding” their announcement slides.
- And then…to the house cleaning!
- Once the house was presentable, it was on to start cooking a new recipe for Spanish rice. I think that it turned our OK, but once we added some of Dave’s pico, it was perfect.
- Acts 2 was really cool. We talked about Faith and Deeds. We discussed having enough faith in these times to continue to act boldly and do all that God tells us.
- After everyone left, and the house was re-cleaned, I got a chance to chat on Skype to my buddy Tony. He’s a good friend and a better youth guy out in Oklahoma City. We’re both looking forward to September, when he and his family are coming to town to head to Disney…oh yeah, Sid and I are going too!
- Finally, my lovely bride came home and we chatted on the couch until we finally crashed…after NASCAR, duh!
SUNDAY
- 6:45 came much too early for me or Sid. But we got up and watched the otters play in the pond (or what’s left of the pond).
- And yes, Harley was losing his ever-loving doggy mind.
- Sid finished getting ready, I drove down to Common Ground to start the day. I was very excited and a little nervous, I helped re-brand the announcements and countdowns…it could have been a little too much cheese moved.
- Everything went AWESOME. Joe Banua led worship, I played drums, it ROCKED! Joe has a great voice, plays well, and is a really strong worship leader. I instantly loved the guy.
- Danny Schaffner brought a GREAT message. Hear it HERE.
- It was Mother’s Day, and the Pre-K and Elementary kids sang. It was VERY CUTE. Julie, our Children’s leader, did a GREAT job with the kids.
- It was a great day in the tech area as well, we added someone to the team, and we had a full tech booth. It’s great to see some momentum start rolling.
- After church, I came home, had some lunch and waited for my lovely bride.
- When she came home and WE SLEPT for 2 1/2 hours…and it was GOOD.
- We got up and went on a bike ride. We rode for 3 miles, and it was awesome. I think that we are going to start doing that every night…I’m excited.
- After a stop off at Publix, Sid made some potato and leech soup, which is just ‘the best’.
- We watched some DVR-tv and did our devotional time, and then went BACK to bed.
- All things considered, it s was truly a GREAT day.
WEEKLY LOOK AHEAD
- There is a funeral this week at Common Ground. It’s a sad time, but also a celebration of someone’s life. It’s one of the reasons the church is here, and I would ask that you would pray for the family.
- INC-Tampa is Tuesday, I love those guys! I get jakked UP when I go to INC, so I an really looking forward to it.
- I am also in contact with a possible new job…it’s seems like an awesome fit. Let’s pray and see where God wants me. I would love to partner with this church, but I will miss working with Danny at Common Ground.
- Also, Wednesday is Sarah-Irene’s and my 3rd anniversary. I cannot believe it’s been 3 years. It’s been a roller-coaster, but I would not know what to do with out her.
