Miracels Part 3

They say that you can judge a person by the friends that they keep.  They also say that looking at a person’s friends can tell you a lot about that person.  I’m not sure what people say about me, personally, but I can tell you about the company I keep.  I have already discussed the miracles of my house and my job, so today I’m talking about the miracle of my friends.

I’ve always said that “I have amazing friends.”  And I am not lying.  I have friends who, at one phone call, will board a plane and fly to Atlanta on a Friday, spend 2 days packing trucks and cleaning houses, help drive the trucks to Tampa, and then help unpack those same trucks, and then go to work on Monday.

I also have a friend who uses some personal privileges to allow my Mom to experience the Magic Kingdom for the first time in her life, all for free.

Sid and I also have friends who spend their time and money to prepare a Thanksgiving dinner for us, because that was the weekend we moved back to Tampa, and did not get a “traditional” Turkey Day dinner.

All of these relationships, and the many that I didn’t mention above, are special and unique.  And everyone is blessing from God, a miracle.

It’s because of these people that Sid and I could survive these last 10 months.  Without the support of amazing people, like our friends, we would have died or killed each other.  The dinner invites, the hanging out, the shoulders to cry on, the words of encouragement, the prayers, the laughter, the love and acceptance, it’s been incredible.

We’ve LITERALLY been broke and not able to buy bread, and our friends would always seem to invite us over for meals that we could never repay them for, let alone bring anything to.  They were angels from God.  And we know it.

In Matthew 25:34-36, Jesus said,

“Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’

Our friends are amazing.  They are real miracles.  I pray that we can return the favors, and be blessings to them.

I want to be a friend like them.
