Weekend Decompress
FRIDAY
- It was going to be a busy day, so it was up early and attack the day!
- I had to be at the offices of Church at the Bay, they were allowing me to print some posters on their plotter. It was awesome! They looked great and the plotter was the BOMB!
- It took a little longer than I expected, luckily, I had brought along Axiom by Bill Hybels. I got about 65 pages in before the project was finished.
- I connected with my buddy, Dave, and we grabbed a bite to eat and spent some time hanging out. I LOVE that guy!!
- I drove home, and after Sid got there…we decided on Sushi for dinner…HOME MADE SUSHI!
- I have said it before, and I will say it again…MY WIFE IS AMAZING at making sushi!
- After dinner, we headed to bed (get your minds out of the gutter), we were exhausted.
- I caught a second wind after Sid fell asleep and decided to finish Axiom. Great read, and you can read my re view here.
SATURDAY
- At 7:30 AM, I was at Common Ground Christian Church, for a Men’s Prayer Gathering.
- It was a great experience, and I was again reminded how blessed I am to be connected to Common Ground and Danny Schaffner and his team.
- After the Men’s Gathering, it was time to finish a few project at church. I had some help and hung 2 of the 6 movie poster light boxes, which looked GREAT I might say, and then finish the multi-media files for Sunday.
- I got to spend some time with Danny and Brad, CG’s worship leader. Brad is an amazing guy, I’m not even sure even Brad knows how amazing he is.
- I came home and put some blog stuff online and caught up on some DVR. (That’s Digital Video Recording)
- At 6:00, I climbed in be with the 2 kids (yes, the dogs sleep in the bed with us…)
- And at 7:00, I woke back up….And I felt pretty good.
- I had some computer issues, and finally got them fixed.
- I started watching NASCAR (Go Cousin Carl!!), and started to clean up the kitchen and the house.
- It’s the 25th Anniversary of Tetris, so I played a little…for old time sake…. Yeah, right.
- Sid came home and decompressed and we chatted about the day.
- We shared some ice cream and the called it a day.
- I spent an hour, or so, reading and then drifted off to sleepy land.
SUNDAY
- It’s @officejunkie07‘s birthday!
- I woke up early and ready for the day.
- I headed down to Common Ground and got everything ready for the service.
- Adam Everett, our youth guy, is speaking on 17 Again: No Regrets.
- He did a great job connecting the Zac Efron movie to the story of King David and not being defined by our failures, but being defined by where we are going.
- You should listen to today’s message HERE.
- Sid came home and we stole a quick nap.
- After some ‘shut eye,” we headed over to some new friend’s, Jason and Joanna Herndon. Jason is a really great guy and a church planter that I have been forming a relationship with. Jason and Joanna are going to do AMAZING things for the kingdom here in Wesley Chapel, FL.
- Dinner and the after dinner discussion was great – Sid and I had a blast, and we are starting to settler down and become more of a part of the community we moved BACK TO in December.
- We made a late night Wal-Mart run before returning home for some sherbert and then bed time.
- I finished the night reading about 1/2 a page of a book, then crashing.
Sometime in the afternoon, I found out that a church planter I know stepped down from his church, becasue of an affair he was having. Yet another, in a long, long, list of great pastors who have fallen do to a personal sin.
I cannot proclaim it enough…we ALL have to guard our personal lives and stay CLOSE TO JESUS CHRIST! If we do not keep the relationship to Jesus and our families as the priority in our lives, things like this will continue to happen.
I am praying for him and his family. I am also praying for his church. I did not like this guy, but Jesus used him to build an amazing church. I know that Christ will use this for good, but it’s tragic and to the depths of my soul, I am mourning for this situation.
Stay close to God, keep your family close, guard your soul against sin and temptation.
