Weekend Decompress
FRIDAY
- Most of Friday was spent reading, cleaning, lawn mowing and hanging with friends.
- I mowed the grass, it REALLY needed it. But I did get a GREAT blog post out of it.
- I spent some time with a new friend, Jason, and we talked about church, NASA, jobs, and theology. He’s agreat guy and I am looking forward to getting to know him better!
- Sid had come home and started edging the house and did a great job.
- We grabbed some Chinese and talked about the future. These conversations are happening more and more. GOOD STUFF.
- After we got home, we headed to be, I read a little bit and then called it a day. For the most part, and very good, productive day.
SATURDAY
- I awoke a little more violently than I like, bt I was excited because the Shuttle was supposed to take off at 7:17…
- The launch was scrubbed, and I was wide awake…
- Sid got ready and headed in to work, I settled in to finish Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance.
- At 8:00 AM, there was a lot of knocking and door bell ringing…Either the house is on fire, or they are serving me with court papers…Neither was true.
- The across the street neighbor was letting me know I had a busted sprinkler head. Nice…next time, leve me a note…it was 8 AM for goodness sake!
- So, I continued to finish the book and then start getting ready for my day! Busy, busy, busy!
- It was Worship Workshop at Common Ground, which means all the band, vocalists, and tech team get together, learn some new material, train, and vision cast. I also had to finish the movie light boxes for the series. A LOT to do.
- Workshop finished, I was finished and I was starving, and it was only 4:00 in the afternoon. I got a call from Danny Schaffner, and he wanted to go see Angels and Demons before the service on Sunday.
- So, we caught the 6:00 showing, and I really enjoyed the movie. I think because I had NOT read the book prior to the film, I enjoyed it more than DaVinci Code, which I read before the film and hated the movie.
- After the movie and I can home and waited for Sid to get off work.
- And she brought me Krispy Kreme Doughnuts….I love my wife.
- We both crashed hard at 10:00…to get ready for the next day.
SUNDAY

- Sunday morning was my usual flurry of activity AND I was the drummer for the weekend services. Busy.
- Everything went well during the services. I am very proud of the tech team, they’ve been adding new people and there was been a WHOLE bunch of changes to what they do, and they have all responded well.
- As always, I would suggest that you listen to the weekend’s teaching. Danny Schaffner did a great job talking about hope and submission HERE.
- After church, I came home and had a cat nap…I’ve been sleeping poorly for the last few days, so I needed a little sleep top be ready for Sid coming home.
- Sarah got off work a little early, and we decided to head downtown and see what kind of trouble we could get into.
- After a little dinner at the world famous Taco Bus, we drove around Tampa and enjoyed looking at the water and the beauty that is living in Florida.
- After watching the sun set, and some great discussions about life, God, jobs, and each other, we came home and called it a night.
