Weekend Decompress

FRIDAY

  • The weekend started a little early (Thursday), when Sid and I went to see Star Trek.  It was amazing!  You can see my review HERE.
  • Friday was a busy day of cleaning and working on MANY projects.
  • Sid and I kidnapped our friend (Michelle) and took her to Sonny’s for lunch.
  • After work, Sid and I ran a quick errand and then visited Tampa’s newest Mecca, I mean, IKEA.
  • It was terrific, it had that “new Ikea smell”.  They had hired balloon guys, face painters, unicyclists, and even a Pippi Longstocking.  You can see me and Pippi HERE.
  • After Ikea, Sid and I stopped for a quick bite to eat.  The full moon was out, and it was a GORGEOUS night in Tampa.  We took the scenic route home.

SATURDAY

  • Saturday morning came early (well, not AS early, I slept in a hour later than I should have).
  • After breakfast and Bible study, I finished the Video and Announcement slides for Common Ground on Sunday. I think that they look pretty great, we “re-branding” their announcement slides.
  • And then…to the house cleaning!
  • Once the house was presentable, it was on to start cooking a new recipe for Spanish rice.  I think that it turned our OK, but once we added some of Dave’s pico, it was perfect.
  • Acts 2 was really cool.  We talked about Faith and Deeds.  We discussed having enough faith in these times to continue to act boldly and do all that God tells us.
  • After everyone left, and the house was re-cleaned, I got a chance to chat on Skype to my buddy Tony.  He’s a good friend and a better youth guy out in Oklahoma City.  We’re both looking forward to September, when he and his family are coming to town to head to Disney…oh yeah, Sid and I are going too!
  • Finally, my lovely bride came home and we chatted on the couch until we finally crashed…after NASCAR, duh!

SUNDAY

  • 6:45 came much too early for me or Sid.  But we got up and watched the otters play in the pond (or what’s left of the pond).
  • And yes, Harley was losing his ever-loving doggy mind.
  • Sid finished getting ready, I drove down to Common Ground to start the day. I was very excited and a little nervous, I helped re-brand the announcements and countdowns…it could have been a little too much cheese moved.
  • Everything went AWESOME.  Joe Banua led worship, I played drums, it ROCKED!  Joe has a great voice, plays well, and is a really strong worship leader.  I instantly loved the guy.
  • Danny Schaffner brought a GREAT message.  Hear it HERE.
  • It was Mother’s Day, and the Pre-K and Elementary kids sang. It was VERY CUTE.  Julie, our Children’s leader, did a GREAT job with the kids.
  • It was a great day in the tech area as well, we added someone to the team, and we had a full tech booth.  It’s great to see some momentum start rolling.
  • After church, I came home, had some lunch and waited for my lovely bride.
  • When she came home and WE SLEPT for 2 1/2 hours…and it was GOOD.
  • We got up and went on a bike ride.  We rode for 3 miles, and it was awesome.  I think that we are going to start doing that every night…I’m excited.
  • After a stop off at Publix, Sid made some potato and leech soup, which is just ‘the best’.
  • We watched some DVR-tv and did our devotional time, and then went BACK to bed.
  • All things considered, it s was truly a GREAT day.

WEEKLY LOOK AHEAD

  • There is a funeral this week at Common Ground.  It’s a sad time, but also a celebration of someone’s life.  It’s one of the reasons the church is here, and I would ask that you would pray for the family.
  • INC-Tampa is Tuesday, I love those guys!  I get jakked UP when I go to INC, so I an really looking forward to it.
  • I am also in contact with a possible new job…it’s seems like an awesome fit.  Let’s pray and see where God wants me.  I would love to partner with this church, but I will miss working with Danny at Common Ground.
  • Also, Wednesday is Sarah-Irene’s and my 3rd anniversary.  I cannot believe it’s been 3 years.  It’s been a roller-coaster, but I would not know what to do with out her.

Weekend Decompress (Monday Edition)

  • I apologize about the lack of any updates in a while, but I have been getting my can kicked my a cold/flu bug that has had me not sleeping and coughing all night and day.  I am starting to feel myself, more everyday, so by week’s end, I should be back to “normal”.
  • I received an amazing privilege on Wednesday of last week…Dave and Michelle Ness, part of the A2 Posse, decided that they wanted to follow in Believer’s Baptism.  WAY COOL…in many senses.  It’s awesome to be a part of a Christ Follower’s decision to get baptized AND the water was VERY cold.  Pictures will be coming shortly.  It was awesome.
  • I played at my old church for Good Friday and Sarah-Irene ran sound.  Yes, it WAS awkward, and yes, we were very welcomed by a lot of our old friends.  As for the old NON friends…well, let’s just say, ………
  • Anyway, Saturday was the Acts 2 Tampa cook-out.  We had a BLAST cooking all sorts of meats and sides.  I made 2 back explosions, a fire pit, a few drinks, and good time was had by all.
  • Sunday, Easter morning, I played drums at Common Ground Tampa.  I love Danny Schaffner and Common Ground.  They are an inner-city church that is really doing a lot of things right.  It was fun and I look forward to playing there again, very soon.
  • Sid is working a church conference in California all this week, so I am bach’ing it.  It sucks, I miss my wife, but I am very glad she is hanging out with some old friends, and doing what she loves.
  • I will say that her flights to Atlanta and Los Angeles were very eventful.  She met a few famous folks: WWE Superstars Cody Rhodes and Beth Phoenix and Good Eat’s Alton Brown.  Yes, she got me autographs, and yes, I am jealous…but happy for her!
  • For the most part, if I wasn’t somewhere, I was in bed and medicated (Props to Nyquil), so I haven’t been blogging, Twittering, Face Booking, or any other Social Networking…but I am alive and feeling better.

WEEKLY LOOK AHEAD

  • I have on good authority that I am 1 of 4 candidates for a full time job. It’s not a church job, and I am very excited about that.  I look forward to working during the week and working for God non-occupationally.
  • I need some prayers and good thoughts ALL DAY on Tuesday – the HR Department is meeting and deciding which direction they want to go…please pray that they come my direction.
  • INC-Tampa is meeting on Tuesday, so I’m taking all the A2 Posse that is available, down to the most amazing group of church leaders in Tampa!
  • Sid gets back on Friday, so I am looking forward to her return.
  • Acts 2 Tampa starts studying through the book of Acts (appropriately) on Saturday, and then I’ll be at Common Ground on Sunday…Good times!
