Weekend Decompress

FRIDAY

  • It was going to be a busy day, so it was up early and attack the day!
  • I had to be at the offices of Church at the Bay, they were allowing me to print some posters on their plotter.  It was awesome!  They looked great and the plotter was the BOMB!
  • It took a little longer than I expected, luckily, I had brought along Axiom by Bill Hybels. I got about 65 pages in before the project was finished.
  • I connected with my buddy, Dave, and we grabbed a bite to eat and spent some time hanging out.  I LOVE that guy!!
  • I drove home, and after Sid got there…we decided on Sushi for dinner…HOME MADE SUSHI!
  • I have said it before, and I will say it again…MY WIFE IS AMAZING at making sushi!
  • After dinner, we headed to bed (get your minds out of the gutter), we were exhausted.
  • I caught a second wind after Sid fell asleep and decided to finish Axiom.  Great read, and you can read my re view here.

SATURDAY

  • At 7:30 AM, I was at Common Ground Christian Church, for a Men’s Prayer Gathering.
  • It was a great experience, and I was again reminded how blessed I am to be connected to Common Ground and Danny Schaffner and his team.
  • After the Men’s Gathering, it was time to finish a few project at church.  I had some help and hung 2 of the 6 movie poster light boxes, which looked GREAT I might say, and then finish the multi-media files for Sunday.
  • I got to spend some time with Danny and Brad, CG’s worship leader.  Brad is an amazing guy, I’m not even sure even Brad knows how amazing he is.
  • I came home and put some blog stuff online and caught up on some DVR.  (That’s Digital Video Recording)
  • At 6:00, I climbed in be with the 2 kids (yes, the dogs sleep in the bed with us…)
  • And at 7:00, I woke back up….And I felt pretty good.
  • I had some computer issues, and finally got them fixed.
  • I started watching NASCAR (Go Cousin Carl!!), and started to clean up the kitchen and the house.
  • It’s the 25th Anniversary of Tetris, so I played a little…for old time sake…. Yeah, right.
  • Sid came home and decompressed and we chatted about the day.
  • We shared some ice cream and the called it a day.
  • I spent an hour, or so, reading and then drifted off to sleepy land.

SUNDAY

  • It’s @officejunkie07‘s birthday!
  • I woke up early and ready for the day.
  • I headed down to Common Ground and got everything ready for the service.
  • Adam Everett, our youth guy, is speaking on 17 Again: No Regrets.
  • He did a great job connecting the Zac Efron movie to the story of King David and not being defined by our failures, but being defined by where we are going.
  • You should listen to today’s message HERE.
  • Sid came home and we stole a quick nap.
  • After some ‘shut eye,” we headed over to some new friend’s, Jason and Joanna Herndon.  Jason is a really great guy and a church planter that I have been forming a relationship with.  Jason and Joanna are going to do AMAZING things for the kingdom here in Wesley Chapel, FL.
  • Dinner and the after dinner discussion was great – Sid and I had a blast, and we are starting to settler down and become more of a part of the community we moved BACK TO in December.
  • We made a late night Wal-Mart run before returning home for some sherbert and then bed time.
  • I finished the night reading about 1/2 a page of a book, then crashing.

Sometime in the afternoon, I found out that a church planter I know stepped down from his church, becasue of an affair he was having.  Yet another, in a long, long, list of great pastors who have fallen do to a personal sin.

I cannot proclaim it enough…we ALL have to guard our personal lives and stay CLOSE TO JESUS CHRIST!  If we do not keep the relationship to Jesus and our families as the priority in our lives, things like this will continue to happen.

I am praying for him and his family.  I am also praying for his church.  I did not like this guy, but Jesus used him to build an amazing church.  I know that Christ will use this for good, but it’s tragic and to the depths of my soul, I am mourning for this situation.

Stay close to God, keep your family close, guard your soul against sin and temptation.

Weekend Decompress

  • Great weekend.  Sid and I got to spend some real quality time together, and I got to have some quality alone time, so it was a great weekend.
  • Friday, Sid and I had a great bike ride and had some dinner, then finished the night catching up on some TV and and early bed time.
  • Saturday, Sid went to work and I headed to Common Ground to finish the multi-media needs for the Sunday service.
  • I’m not going to lie, I was jakked up to watch the 25th NASCAR All-Star race.  I watched it from start to finish and I was excited to see Tony Stewart, and Stewart-Haas Racing get their first win of the season.
  • Sid came home, and actually watched the end of the race with me…I got me a good woman.
  • Sunday AM was early, but awesome.
  • Common Ground was off the chain great.  We had a guest worship leader, and the congregation was receptive and engaged.
  • Danny Schaffner gave an amazing lesson.  You can listen to it HERE.
  • It’s great to be a part of Common Ground, they are an amazing church, and I am learning a lot from Danny and the Staff.  if you are ever in Tampa, you should visit.
  • After church, I hung out with the Ness ladies.  We visited a local Italian/Greek place…it rocked.
  • Sid got home and we headed to Wal-mart and our beloved Shannon’s Market for some needed veggies and fruit.
  • Sunday evening we laid very low around the house and crashed very early.
  • It was a pretty low key weekend.  And I am very thankful for it.

WEEKLY LOOK AHEAD

  • I have a very important lunch meeting with a local church planter Monday at Noon.  This will be a great connection, and a possible job.  Please pray.
  • Tuesday is Common Ground day.  I have Staff Meeting and Creative Planning meeting after lunch.  GREAT stuff.
  • Thursday is Common Ground’s Leadership Community.  We’ll be looking at the next 6 months and talking a little about “IT”.  Have I mentioned that I really LOVE Craig Groeschel.
  • I’m really excited because Terminator: Salvation and Night at the Museum: Battle for the Smithsonian drop this weekend.  It’s going to be a GREAT weekend for movies.

Weekend Decompress

FRIDAY

  • Sid came home and then we headed over to some good friend’s for dinner and cigars.
  • We had a blast and enjoyed spending time with our friends and family.
  • Sid and I came home, and watch an episode of Numbers and then crashed.
  • At around 1:00 am, I woke up in SERIOUS pain.  My back (or hip) was messed up – it might have been a dig under me most of the night, or just sleeping wrong, either way, I was in a lot of pain.
  • I did the best I could, until I finally laid on the floor, pulled a blanket and a pillow, then fell (sort of) asleep.

SATURDAY

  • I woke up (very stiff) and started on my day.
  • Sid went to her 2nd job, and I started getting the house ready for A2.
  • As the day went on, my hip (back) started to loosen up, so all in all, I started to feel better.
  • I watched Wyatt Earp while I cleaned, I have never seen it, not a bad movie, but I still prefer Tombstone.
  • Acts 2 was cool, a little slim people-wise, but good times.
  • Today was the first time I actually watched and entire NASCAR race from start to finish. Truly amazing.
  • I used to think that it was a bunch of cars driving fast and turning left, but I am starting to understand race strategy.
  • I made a little dinner for Sid and we watched the end of the race together and then hit the bed.
  • I figured out the best way I could sleep, and passed out.

SUNDAY

  • 6:45 came early and I felt….pretty good.
  • The typical Sunday morning routine (shower, dogs out, dogs fed, shirts ironed) and then hit the road.
  • Today was my first time opening the church for the Worship Team…not that I have never opened a church before, but I was a little nervous about the alarm code working.
  • Adam, the youth guy, was already there, so there was no need to fear.
  • Dave and Michelle were joining me in the tech booth, so it was a “family affair” at Common Ground.
  • Danny, Sr. Pastor, over at Common Ground, was on point and delivered a message that hit VERY close to home.  It was really powerful stuff.
  • After church, I came home and waited for my lovely bride to come home.
  • One thing I love about Sid, she is watching services from NewSpring Church, in S. Carolina, and feeding quotes via her Twitter…I LOVE that she does that!
  • Sid fixed a GREAT dinner (stir fry veggies and tofu) – she did some voodoo to the tofu and it was great.
  • We spent (and are spending) the rest of the night chilling and just detoxing from the week.

WEEKLY LOOK AHEAD

  • A couple of key meetings this week. It’s going to be great, challenging, but great.
  • The Job Hunt continues even more this week, the couple of opportunities I had, dried up.  So, we’re starting back a square one again…again.
  • I’m excited because Star Trek launches this weekend, Sid and I cannot wait.
