What have you done? Have you been checking off the “to do” list? Have you had a productive day?

What have you been chasing?

I’ve been doing a lot of reading lately, and the one main thing that I find most interesting is that, outside of better leadership, success is best defined as how deeply you invest those around you.

As a pastor, I can justify all my work, because in the long run, it will help my team and honor God. But how well insulated am I from the very people I am called to serve? AM I justifying all the paperwork I do as an excuse to NOT get my hands dirty?

I Twitter, I blog, I send emails, I even make a couple of phone calls…but am I really investing in people?

What happens when you chase what matters?

The back door of the church closes.

People are more inclined to serve and be involved.

Your organization gets a reputation for caring about people.

God is honored.

You begin to mirror Jesus Christ.

The simple truth is what matters to God should matter to us. God proved what mattered was PEOPLE [John 3:16].

The bank doesn’t have the right goal, but they’ve got the right idea, we should chase what matters.

Please let me know what you think matters.
