I cannot wait any longer…as I write this it’s 2 hours until my favorite TV show comes back from hiatus… Battlestar Galactica Since I first laid eyes on the mini-series, I was hooked. Now, 5 years later, my beloved BSG is now entering it’s final season.
Why do I love BSG so much? Simple, it’s the best TV show on the tube today. Ronald D. Moore, Star Trek alum, has crafted an amazing survival story molded around heart wrenching personal struggles, set amid the possible end of humanity. I know, it sounds too good to be true, but it is. It has something for everyone:
Amazing Stories – Moore and his creative team have an amazing way of telling a compelling tale that hooks you on an emotional level.
Tremendous Photography – even with a TV budget, BSG pulls off amazing dog fights and space battles, and the handy-cam work is outstanding. They even pull off the “quick zoom” effect in their CGI environment.
The Cylons look like us – I was completely shocked when I discovered that the “chrome toasters” had been replaced by…well, incredibly hot women…well, a couple of cylon models anyway…

Old School Nostalgia, with a New School Flavor -I loved the old 1980′s BSG. And when I heard that they were “re-imagining” one of my favorite boyhood shows, I was skeptical. But after that first mini-series, I was convinced. RDM and David Eik, the show’s producers, built on what made the original show great, but connected the new series to our “earthly” issues, political woes, social concerns, and societal ills.
All in all, it’s been several months since they have aired NEW episodes, and tonight we get the first half of the new season. I am as excited as a little school girl. Thank the lords of Kobal for DVR!
